Country decor is something I am certainly familiar with. Whether you want to focus on simple and rustic or to luxury with your furnishings and perhaps do ranch style, I could whip that interior into shape. Unfortunately, I’m just a writer who knows his decor, not an interior decorator.
The country style interior decor has become a permanent characteristic of American tradition for hundreds of years. Occasionally, it has been the widely accepted, current look of the American home, which is where the design and style have come from, while lately, it has been used a bit more as vintage, reminiscent style than a look which is contemporary, as it were.
That does not have to be the case. By incorporating small and uncomplicated modifications, country style home decor can be carried into our century.
I grew up in Kentucky, and will always be one in a way, so that country style decor with the front porch rocking chair and cozy, quaint, old school farmhouse feel is something I know quite well. I can point you to some ideas to think about as you choose how you want to implement country style decor in your home.
Country decorating ideas
You can certainly start with the rocking chairs. You don’t have to put them on the front porch though. You can instead have them inside your home, and we did that, too. I remember my mom and dad didn’t have enough money for regular new furniture early on like sofas and whatnot, so they got creative and bought brand new oak rocking chairs. We each got one, and I will never forget that.
A friend of mine from Washington State was talking earlier today about her wood stove. That or a fireplace would be a great idea for country style decor. Many people also like to put deer heads and other taxidermy projects on the wall, but that’s not for me, any of it at all.
The only time I like to even think about taxidermy is the laughing moose head in Evil Dead 2. In other words, besides the funny movie, I do not like animals portrayed in that fashion. It is not country style decor in my book.
But that doesn’t mean some of my family and friends didn’t do it. Go for solid wood furniture of course, and just pay attention to that country style and flare that can be found in certain pieces. I will give you an example.
My great uncle uses mesquite wood that he gets from his ranch land in Texas for his furniture business. He makes, for instance, coffee tables out of the wood in I would say an oceanic shape. I’ll tell you why I use the word oceanic.
He used some turquoise rock or other substance in the middle in concentrated form and sprinkled throughout the rest of the shellacked wood. They are robust and worth good money. Look for those types of pieces when you want to add country decor to your home.
How to decorate country style
Just like any home decorating project, a homeowner must first make a decision where they might be applying country interior design. Some decide to have this decoration style all over their entire property while many more choose country decorating aiming for just a few spaces, as an example the kitchen and the living room space.
Since this layout is intended for those who delight in simplicity and nature, some household owners might wish to take the country-embellishing theme through the entire living area.
Country house decoration combines colors, which are usually clean and bright with country pieces of furniture and components. Palettes are light, frequently based on a white tone, or occasionally a pale cream or beige. Think about colors for country decorating, light to a medium gradation of white, yellow, pink, green or brown are excellent options.
Colors should represent a rustic feeling. To improve the colored walls, a house owner or designer might wish to use stencils with a country character such as flowers or plants, fruits or vegetables. Wallpaper boarders are likewise frequently used in country decorating. It is great to employ these add ons but the general guideline is – to be confident the patterns do not conflict.
Rustic home decor
Believe it or not, there is an incredible number of different subsets of the country decor, from the simple, frontier image of the rustic country to the revamped and stylish surroundings of French country. Recognizing these differences is vital to locating the right harmony of changes and similarities to remodel your country look.
Consider, as an example, the traditional American country decor. This might be perfect for a base type of country style interior decorating. The look is associated with simplicity, in both the over all form of the items in the home decor, and in the function of all things. Sometimes, there are several natural components mixed up in decor, including flowers (or, more often, floral prints.)
In line with a rustic and straightforward topic, country house decoration uses wood – natural wood. When picking out a component for a country floor, natural wood is a fine decision.
Compare this to a couple of other country variations, like the rustic style. The rustic home decor is, indeed, simplified in form and function. It is a lot more simple than the traditional American layout. In the same way, the addition of natural components is much more defined in the rustic design, as every single furniture piece is constructed from wood, most of which is unfinished. On the other hand, the coloration in the rustic style is usually considerably darker.
Do it yourself country decor
The amazing task of changing country style home decor is planning the essential changes in such a way that it leaves the essentials intact. Ultimately, if you replace the character and guidelines that are essential to the country style, then you are not able to honestly call the outcome country at all. This is not to state that there are no varieties of the country style.
Apparently employing natural wood within a large space can be expensive. If looking to buy less-expensive material give flooring surfaces a rustic look, a gentle color of carpet may very well be taken into consideration or an adequate pattern on laminate flooring.
These solutions will also work well together with the country house decoration theme. Additional ideas for country floors are natural flagstone or tile. Some proprietors, if they are undoubtedly creative, revamp their floors with stencils and make patterns.
Another great way to modify a room is by using area rugs. Consistent with the country interior design theme, those with a genuine look build a nice and comfortable feeling. Hooked, quilted and braided rugs make delightful addendum to a rustic floor.
Think about pieces of furniture to go with country decorating, light wood or wicker is recommended. Again, these elements reveal the beauty of nature. If an owner of a house or decorator makes a decision fabric would highlight their household furniture, such as pillows or slip covers, floral patterns or patterned fabrics increase the traditional look.
